– Everyday tips and things to think about-

This issue – on the road …..and behind the wheel.

 On your car rear windshield, if you have those cute     little stick figures on the back of your car showing your family members….fine…but PLEASE DO NOT put your kid’s names on your window for ANYONE to read.  (Mommy, Daddy, Tommie, & Susie…...) Don’t give a predator any ammunition….like your child’s name.

Before you get into your car / SUV ….take an extra second and look into the backseat / rear area to ensure that no one is in your car.

Be aware of preditors who “bump” your car from behind in an isolated area, expecting you to pull over and get out.  If in a minor fender bender and feel uneasy: stay in your car and roll your window down just enough to talk out to the other drive.  Call the police on the cell phone or ask them to follow you to a populated area like a gas station.

A large Mag-Flashlight is a great item to keep in your car.  It functions as a possible tool….and protection device. ( Serves as  a “mini-bat” if attacked )

Reports of preditors hanging around in parking lots selling imitation perfumes….they ask what type of perfume you wear  and ask you to “smell this”…at times, it has been some type of inhalant drug,….and after smelling, …and passing out, the victim was left at the attackers mercy.  If approached…simply raise your hand in a stop motion and a  “NO THANK YOU”

Some “bad guys” have been known to put flyers and notices on the passenger side of your front windshield and / or the rear window.  Enticing you to get out of your car to remove the flyers….and they move in.

If you live in a gated community, are you watching behind you, to see who drives in behind you?

Before and after you pull into your garage, make sure you check your rear view mirrors, and look all around.

Do you know your neighbors cars?  When you come home at night, do you know what cars belong there….and more importantly…what cars don’t ?

Confronted by an attacker in a parking lot or at your car without help or self defense weapon?....try breaking off a car antenna and using it like stick, sword or whip.  It is light, gives you distance, stings when hit…and shows you go that extra mile…good luck..and STAY SAFE !

This photo is an actual sex offender living in Southern California. Convicted of kidnap, rape by force, and indecent exposure.

TYPES OF PREDATOR LURES

The Lost Pet Lure 

    Frequently pedophiles / molesters approach young children and pretend that he has lost his pet.  He will ask a child search the area, usually a secluded or wooded area, to find the pet  Once the pet has been found,  the predator will ask the child to help him take the dog back to the car, once the predator gets back to the car, then he will grab the child and the child will disappear. There are several versions…but all include the child searching for the pet w/ the attacker.

Cigarette Plant

 Some preditors will leave an open pack of cigarettes on the ground within a few blocks of a school.  Any curious child…smoker or not will pick it up out of curiosity.  The man jumps out of the car yelling “hey, you are not supposed to have that…come here and give that to me…you’re in trouble. Thinking they did something wrong, most children will walk right up to a strangers car.  Often times being told to sit in the car, the children get in the vehicle out of fear of being in trouble. Your kids should know, only you or those you have expressed may discipline them, and always with you present.

Many child molesters and predators have their own communications networks, and often share many of these techniques with others…targeting innocence on our children…educate your kids…and be safe.
